What We Love: Homemade Jam

If you’ve ever tasted homemade raspberry jam on a freezing-cold day in January, as a blizzard turns your New England home into a real-life snow globe, then you understand the incredible joy found in a jar of jam. Suddenly, it was summer in my home and the 12-foot snowdrifts outside my door simply melted away, all thanks to a few bites of preserved fruit. This is why jams are one of my all-time favorite food gifts. Like a beautiful photograph, they capture a moment in time with only a few ingredients – fruit, sugar, and lemon juice.

The options are endless for how you can gift your favorite jams, too. Maybe try adding homemade biscuits or scones to a basket. Use the jam to make crumb bars or linzer cookies. Or you could include a bottle of bubbly for a delightful jam cocktail. The most important part is to have fun while making your signature jam (that’s why it’s known as, “your jam”) and wrapping it for those people who maybe need a bit of sunshine on an otherwise dreary day.

Thanks to some incredible bloggers, there are plenty of inspiring flavors for your next batch of gifts. These are just a few of our favorites, and each is a lovely way to spend a summer day preserving some goodness for year-round gifting.
