It feels like summer here. It also feels like there are so many good things happening in the universe. Here are a few:
A few years ago, I hung out with Jessica Fechtor and promptly fell for her sweetness and incredibly generous nature. She also happens to be one of those writers who can write sentences that are simultaneously precise and heartfelt, and there are thousands of them in her new book, Stir: My Broken Brain and the Meals That Brought Me Home. The new Eat Boutique web site will launch later this month. Gosh, I can’t wait to show you. Just sayin’!
I think you all know by now that I lead a Lean & Green lifestyle, which means I’m generally vegan except for fish and wine because, people, wine! I think there are still a few spots in the June Lean & Green Program, hosted by Sherrie. Her blog With Food + Love was nominated for a Saveur Blog ’15 Award. We love her!
It’s summer and I just want to use this Cocoa Sante Parisien-Style Cocoa in my dessert of the moment: Frozen Dark Chocolate Smoothie with Whipped Coconut Cream. I see that you all like it too. I’d love to hear how you’re serving it. I’m also thinking about making more sorbet, like asap, with frozen fruit and water and a touch of honey.
I realize we’re six months into 2015 but I still think of this year as my “new year, new you” moment. In fact, I created a board full of recipes and links to celebrate the flavors, recipes and links I want to continue to explore this year. I’m still thinking about Espresso-Braised Spring Onions, Vegan Chunky Monkey Ice Cream, and Cauliflower Tortillas. I already miss Maine. I was up there last week for a food festival, a picnic-style photo shoot, a lot of s’mores by an open fire, and a little downtime. Anytime I take to the road, I post images with the hashtag #foodgiftlovetravels. See my latest round of images here.
