What We’re Loving: Picnic Sides

Last week we were inspired to grill.  But my picnic table looks empty with just a platter of the main dish adorning the center spot.  I want people to linger in the backyard all afternoon, grazing on snacks, sipping summertime drinks and filling their plates with picnic side dishes inspired by some of our favorite food bloggers.

Potato salad is a picnic staple, but Tzatziki Potato Salad is a version I have yet to see on anyone’s backyard table. {from Smitten Kitchen}

When you are assigned to bring the veggie platter for the next cookout, why not add a personal touch with this insanely delicious looking Homemade Ranch Dressing?  As Joy mentions, I’m sure people won’t be shy to slather it on anything from their potatoes to burgers. {from Joy the Baker}

It’s easy to whip up a pasta salad and fun to get creative with the ingredients.  But what about opting for a green salad to accompany the meat?   Broccoli Basil & Avocado Toss  looks sure to satisfy the veggie part of the equation. {from The First Mess}

Washing all the grilled food and picnic sides down shouldn’t mean reaching in the cooler for a diet soda.  Instead, how about a tall glass of Ginger Beer Lemonade? {from Recipe Girl}

Looking for another way to chill?  Watermelon, Grapefruit and Mint Coolers sound like just the treat. Available in kid or adult versions, thank goodness. {from the yellow table}

  • Hooray, picnic food!  I’ve just been waiting patiently for it to be warm enough for a real summer picnic, and some of these will definitely fit the bill.  🙂
